This has got to be one of the most beautiful and important books ever published on the great plains. For anyone who loves the plains or cares about the environmental future of the region, pick up this book. Forsberg is a Nebraska photographer who is well know for his work with the Sandhill Cranes in his book On Ancient Wings. Dan O'Brien is a South Dakota rancher, falconer, educator and author of several books including the award winning Buffalo for the Broken Heart. Ted Koosier is a Nebraska educator and former U.S. Poet Laureate. David Wishart is a great plains scholar and author of several books on the plains including the Encyclopedia of the Great Plains.
