It was a long time coming...but here it is! After a cool (refreshing!) and somewhat rainy (occasionally stormy) June...it is finally summer. That means ice cream and hiking (Harney Peak!), biking (Mickelson Trail!) scenic drives (Needles Highway and Spearfish Canyon!) and deck dining! I personally love deck dining. It's time for Moon Walks, horseback riding and mini-golf. And don't forget to visit the burros in Custer State Park. Are we lucky or what?
Did anyone else grope their way through the fog to the top of Crazy Horse Mountain this spring? It was so foggy - that the carving wasn't visible until you bumped into his chin. Have no fear though - there will be a second volksmarch in September. September is not usually foggy. My fingers are crossed. It's a fun hike though...fog or no fog. Heavy rain? Maybe not. There is progress, by the way. The arm where we all stand is getting narrower and narrower!
Take a look at the calendar for some updates on summer fun!
Meet the Family
Meet the family! Miss Willow (who will inform you that she is NOT adopted) has been with us since her puppy days. She's the little devil dog who can't resist a sock, or counter surfing or running across the room with a knife in her mouth. (It's a rather incongruent sight - a golden retreiver brandishing a steak knife but that's Willow)
Mellow Maverick also known as Happy Mav, was our first golden retriever rescue. He's a gentle soul, a lover of all creatures and extremely well behaved. He was four when we got him and he's pushing six now. He's a joy to be around.
Miss Molly joined us in December of 2012. He motto is "Say yes to life!" and she is always smiling. She loves nothing better than riding in the car. She is great company for me in Rapid City...and she loves to walk. Very. Slowly. She also thinks that it is very important to sing. She especially appreciates any song that has the word "molly" in it. Like Molly oop-oop oop. Or...Molly olly olly doll. You get the picture.
