The Life and Times of Illustrator & Artist Reynold Brown
THURSDAY, JULY 16TH AT 7PM
Presented by Franz Brown
Local artist Franz Brown will be at The Wild Burro Bookstore to talk about the life and work of his father Reynold Brown who illustrated over 250 films of the 1950's and 1960's including the classics "The Creature from the Black Lagoon," "The Incredible Shrinking Man," "Doctor Zhivago," and "How the West Was Won." Franz will highlight his talk with a slide presentation of the movie posters and later artworks created by Reynold Brown.  It should be a fascinating look at the life of an artist of another era.  And for many of us (however reluctant we are to confess it) a walk down memory lane.

Laural's Notes:  It's July already - Independence Day has come and gone... and with it the store's 8th anniversary of doing business in Hot Springs.  Isn't that something?  David Lee Brown, Martin Meyer and special guest Gene Nelson did a concert in the store the other night and David and I got to thinking back to the first concert hosted by the store - David Lee Brown.  Matt Mason, a wonderful (and very funny!) poet from Omaha was the first ever "event" at the store.  Since then, we've had puppet shows, local talent shows, a poetry slam, the Denver poetry slam team, lectures about the National Park Service and the Nature Conservancy, and about the stars.  We've seen many, many concerts featuring the likes of Chuck Pyle, Dakota Blonde, Darren Curtis Skanson, Craig Carrothers, Jalan Crossland, The Winstons, The Mitguards, Norman Liota...and on and on.... But don't let my waxing nostalgic make you think the good times are gone.  JOIN ME AND LOCAL ARTIST FRANZ BROWN ON THURSDAY, JULY 16TH AT 7PM as he presents the life and work of his father.
